About
Beethoven’s symphonies have spoken across generations, and his path-breaking Second Symphony still carries the unmistakable influence of his teacher, Joseph Haydn. Dan Coleman, too, has spoken of his debt to Haydn. He composed his Motif (Memory) especially for oboe virtuoso Gustav Highstein, performing this special composition. Stravinsky’s enchanting Pulcinella glances back to Baroque giant Giovanni Pergolesi in the opening.
