Scheherazade

American Promise by Karen LeFrak opens the program, depicting the quest for freedom and a quiet prayer of appreciation, commemorating the nation’s year-long 250th birthday celebration. Grammy Award-winning violinist Charles Yang takes to the stage, presenting Kris Bowers’ For a Younger Self. Bowers’ moving first violin concerto composition was written in 2019 with Yang in mind. The violinist is also a compelling vocalist, becoming a crossover artist and improviser with many of his encores going viral on social media. The spectacular showpiece Scheherazade fills the hall to complete the program
