About
Vivi Vassileva belongs to the rising stars on the percussion – this was also evident in our series jeunes in March 2025. Santtu-Matias Rouvali started as a percussionist before moving to the conductor's podium, and it can be expected that this concert will develop a special rhythmic drive. The concert opener is the percussion concert by Finnish composer Kalevi Aho, who has undertaken to write a solo concert for each orchestra instrument. The second work also comes from the home country of the conductor, after his successful debut he returns to Tonhalle Zürich for the second time: It is Sibelius' very popular Symphony No. 2, which not only develops auditory beauty but also a lot of motor energy.
