About
Scarcely a work has engaged the imagination of posterity as variously as Mozart's unfinished Requiem. Numerous composers have attempted to reconstruct or write new parts, and Milos Forman's film 'Amadeus' also features the work prominently. Now, Paavo Järvi conducts this Requiem for the first time in Zurich. Prior to this, a work on the program with an obvious, albeit intended, vacancy is present: In Stravinsky's 'Psalm Symphony' for choir and orchestra, there are neither violins nor violas; besides brass, percussion, and two pianos, only deep string instruments are used – which gives the work a quite unique sound.
