Gianandrea Noseda & Hilary Hahn

One can exchange many things - even orchestras! This is certainly the case for Paavo Järvi and Gianandrea Noseda, General Music Directors at the Opera House Zurich. As they did in the joint Rachmaninoff cycle in 2023, they will also do so in the current Prokofiev cycle by facing each other's orchestra. In this concert, Noseda conducts the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich, with Hilary Hahn as the soloist. The American violinist delighted the Zurich audience with Prokofiev's Violin Concerto No. 1 in March, and now she presents No. 2. Additionally, there is Prokofiev's ironically-understated Symphony No. 6 - and the orchestra work «glut» by our Creative Chair Dieter Ammann. The Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich brought the work to its premiere in 2016, since then it has been played in London, Paris, Berlin, and various other cities: an unusually rapid and wide-ranging career for a contemporary work.
