About
The name Juvavum, which Salzburg was called during ancient Roman times, lives on slightly compressed in the young Salzburger Javus Quartet. The four have been together for years, won numerous awards and now present themselves in the Série jeunes: They pay tribute to Joseph Haydn, the 'inventor' of string quartets, and play a deeply moving masterpiece by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, which was created during his last Switzerland tour. In between is the Quartet from 1947 by Polish composer and violinist Grażyna Bacewicz, whose music has been increasingly rediscovered in recent years.
