Carmen

Sergeant Don José’s world is turned upside down when he meets the seductive Carmen: captivated by her passion, he falls head over heels in love with this fascinating woman. Just as quickly as he abandons his fiancée Micaëla, he forgets his duty as a soldier and heads for the Spanish mountains with Carmen’s gang of smugglers. But his newfound happiness is short-lived, for Carmen’s heart soon belongs to the bullfighter Escamillo. Don José is seized by reckless jealousy and swears revenge. Georges Bizet’s music is an explosion of colours, rhythm and infectious melodies: sensual habaneras, rousing choruses and Spanish-inspired dances are charged with gripping drama and passionate orchestration.
