About
Pavel Kolesnikov and Samson Tsoy, celebrated for their deep musical partnership, have garnered acclaim for their piano duo arrangements of these two orchestral pillars. Their performance of Stravinsky's 'The Rite of Spring' captures the raw, percussive energy of the composer's original 1913 four-hand piano version, stripping the work back to its rhythmic and skeletal essence. Similarly, by tackling Liszt's formidable transcription of Beethoven's 'Symphony No 9', the duo transforms a massive symphonic structure into an intimate yet powerful dialogue, highlighting the structural genius and remarkable modernity of the composition through the clarity of two pianos. This concert is part of the New Town Concerts 2026/27 series which includes the Martinů String Quartet , Quatuor Agate , and the Trio Bohémo .
