Rufus Wainwright’s Dream Requiem

Throughout his remarkable career Rufus Wainwright has worn his musical influences proudly.Dream Requiem is his grandest project yet, fusing the poet Byron’s apocalyptic poem Darkness to the Requiem Mass to create an unforgettable work for narrator, soprano, choir and orchestra.Written during the pandemic, it is a Requiem for the people we lost, for the human touch, togetherness and the human voice which all had become dangerous and contagious, but also a Requiem for the world we live in and destroy at the same time.
