Wings and Feathers

The ballet evening Wings and Feathers combines two dance pieces, Stephanie Lake's Colossus (2018) and Akram Khan's Vertical Road (2010, new version 2023), whose central theme is the relationship between the individual and the community. Both works are by renowned choreographers, whose pieces are being performed for the first time by the Semperoper Ballett. Stephanie Lake, one of the most prominent voices of contemporary Australian dance, will be Artist in Residence at the Semperoper Ballett from the 2025/26 season. Akram Khan, who combines elements of Western contemporary dance and Indian classical dance into his own unmistakable style, has been conquering the international dance scene from London for over two decades. The tension-filled, specially composed scores of both pieces are by Robin Fox (Colossus) and by Nitin Sawhney and Aditya Prakash (Vertical Road).
