Die Mitternachtstür

When Gran and his family move to the new town, it’s not just the family harmony that’s off balance. Their new home is crooked and twisted too. And things are certainly not going well at school, because Gran’s classmates are a bit weird as well. But then he meets Catalina. She is the only one who sees him, talks to him – and understands what's going on. She knows about the mysterious midnight door, behind which another world opens up – a world in which brave people join forces and stand up to the worries that make the city increasingly strange and sweep the ground from under its feet. Gran and Catalina do everything they can to save their city… The new family opera “Die Mitternachtstür” by James Reynolds and Pamela Dürr adapts the novel of the same name by bestselling author Dave Eggers for the opera stage. With cinematic music and grand operatic sounds, it tells the story of the power of forming bonds, so that everything turns out all right again in difficult times.
