NSO Paul Huang & Friends - Shostakovich Perspective

The transmission of musical tradition often manifests in the most intimate conversations. Glinka's rich Russian style has always been captivating, and his string quintet in A major is considered a masterpiece of chamber music, offering endless enjoyment even for first-time listeners. Glinka also taught Tchaikovsky, playing a crucial role in preserving Russian musical traditions. Tchaikovsky's 15th Symphony is his most personal work, free from ideological constraints, and features a liberal use of percussion, along with the delicate and intricate details characteristic of chamber music.
