About
This performance centered around three pieces of 20th-century chamber music, linking together cross-cultural dance vocabulary and modern soundscapes. The performance began with works by American musical pioneer Parker, presented in a refined, salon-style setting. The slow waltz, with its nostalgic Baroque-era spirit, also conveyed the vibrant energy of the new continent through its light and lively rhythm. Subsequently, Turina infused Spanish Andorran folk rhythms into the French Impressionist style, creating a passionate and dynamic piece with sharp, distinct accents that filled the hall with a sense of dance. The second half of the concert featured a piano composition by 16-year-old Walton.
