Jonathan Bloxham is among the most promising conductors of his generation. His career took off in 2016, when he took on the position of Assistant Conductor with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra under Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla. With the start of the 2024/25 season, Jonathan Bloxham became Chief Conductor of the Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie. Previously, he was successful as a cellist and performed regularly at the Wigmore Hall in London as well as on renowned stages throughout Europe. Bloxham studied cello before turning to conducting.Louis Schwizgebel studied with Brigitte Meyer in Lausanne and with Pascal Devoyon in Berlin. Later, he also attended the Juilliard School and the Royal Academy of Music in London, where among others Emanuel Ax and Robert McDonald were his teachers. Success at the International Music Competition in Geneva, which he won at the age of 17, as well as two years later at the Young Concert Artists International Auditions in New York, and the award as BBC New Generation Artist (2013–2015) opened the way for the pianist to international concert stages.
