Georg Friedrich Händel | Der Messias Thomas Berning is a church musician and Domkapellmeister at the Hohen Dom in Paderborn, a conductor and university lecturer. At the age of eight, he began piano lessons with the organist of his home parish, St. Dionysius, who laid the foundation for his love of music in church. At sixteen, he started playing the organ. From 1987 to 1992, he studied Catholic church music at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold. Since 1992, Thomas Berning has been teaching in the university sector: initially as a teaching assistant at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold, from 1996 to 2006 in the field of organ literature playing at the Hochschule für Kirchenmusik Heidelberg, and since 2007 in the field of score playing at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold.
