About
Moving images with live music: We transform our concert hall into a cinema, and two talented actors, Oscar winner Emma Thompson and her husband Greg Wise, will star in the main roles on the screen. The film "LOSS" is about loss and transformation: It tells the story of a soul that says goodbye to earthly life and is accompanied on its journey to the afterlife. Dance, performed by the Arts Umbrella Dance Company, serves as a metaphor, and appropriately, Gustav Holst's Suite "The Planets" plays, a masterpiece. Director Lucas van Woerkum is the creative force behind this symphonic cinema format, and in an interview, he explains that the film "portrays a 'grieving process in a soothing way from two perspectives'": It deals both with "the pain of those who are left behind" and "the pain of the person who is leaving." He will give an introduction during the concert – and then, during the presentation, he will sit in the orchestra as a solo performer, synchronizing the film with the music in terms of tempo, dynamics, and emotional changes. And that is what makes this evening so unique, because it creates a special connection between film and music, which mutually enhance each other's messages. This will certainly be a moving and unforgettable event that you shouldn't miss.
