CLUB SYMPHONY: RECONSTRUCTING DEBUSSY
"You are nothing but a path and a passage, and you can only live by what you transform," says this philosophical book by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry – and we always like to keep up with the times: This season, we are once again transforming our concert hall into a club for one evening, mixing classical instrumental sounds with electronic techno sounds. Everything revolves around Claude Debussy, a true eccentric: In the spirit of the Fin de Siècle, he followed his own path and composed simply as he pleased – and in doing so, he revolutionized music. He was particularly inspired by nature: The Faun in his famous "Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune" awakens on a summer day from a blissful dream, and in the equally popular piece "La mer," Debussy wonderfully captured the movements of the water – which will be spread in this extraordinary live concert with exciting sound effects. Because a transformation is taking place: The two works will be rethought, reshaped, and emotionally charged by the techno artist Marc Romboy and the arranger and conductor Miki Kekenj. Here, a driving beat and orchestral breadth intertwine – and this pulsating energy flow creates vibrating soundscapes from gentle waves and hypnotic states from fleeting motifs.
