Musicians: Stefan Ragnar Höskuldsson, flute; Katie Buckley, harp; Þórunn Ósk Marinósdóttir, viola; Hulda Jónsdóttir, cello; Solveig Steinþórsdóttir, violin; Steiney Sigurðardóttir, violin It is a rare opportunity to see Stefan Ragnar Höskuldsson, the first flutist of the Berlin Philharmonic, perform for the first time in a chamber music concert. The program consists of works for flute and harp, a popular duo combination that has been composed by many composers since the 18th century. Claude Debussy was the first to add the viola to the duo in 1915, creating a trio, and many other composers followed his example in the 20th century. The first part of the concert will feature two such trios: Sonata for flute, viola, and harp by Debussy and Gubaidulina's "Joy and Sorrow," a Russian work composed in 1980. This will be the Icelandic premiere of Gubaidulina's work, which has been widely acclaimed internationally. After a break, Stefan Ragnar and Katie Buckley, a harpist with the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra, will perform Mozart's "Concerto for Flute and Harp in C Major" with a string quartet arranged by Bob Litterell. The chamber music club is collaborating with the "Siggill" Sunday service. The concert will be held in the Nordljósum.
