LAB: Alle an Deck?

Not only for Störtebeker is music composed, but also in the LAB: All Hands on Deck? Compositions are created through a collective process. Young people with different ways of perceiving the world meet here to jointly take over the large steamship Hamburgische Staatsoper. They take the helm themselves. Through encounters with the orchestra, workshops, and stage technology, they immerse themselves in the world of opera, discover new approaches, and actively shape it with their own music and poetry. The question arises: Who can, should, and is allowed to participate in the treasures of opera? Who or what is missing on the steamship? Must arias always be sung, or can intense emotions also be expressed through sign language poetry? How interesting is the mimicry of the orchestra, and how does it feel to conduct? After a phase of getting to know each other, the young people embark on their journey into the world of opera through inclusive backstage tours. Afterwards, they create their own compositions and scenes in workshops, which are then performed at the opera stabile.
