About
The concert takes you on a journey between dream and drama, intimacy and grand gesture – carried by the charismatic presence of an outstanding soloist! The concert opens with Maurice Ravel's Ma mère l’oye, a finely shaded fairy tale in music. At the center is Bohuslav Martinů's rarely performed Rhapsody-Concerto, complemented effectively by Holst's Miniature. Jean Sibelius' monumental Lemminkäinen-Suite goes back to Kalevala, the Finnish national epic, and brings to life one of Sibelius' most famous works, the 'Swan of Tuonela' from Lemminkäinen.
