About
Proteus, the prophetic sea god, is the program for the composition of the Estonian Ülo Krigul, while Rimski-Korsakow created a sonorous suite around the figure of Scheherazade from the tales of 1001 Nights, setting various adventures and exotic scenes from the tales to music. The voice of Scheherazade is skillfully captured in lyrical passages of the solo violin. This fairy-tale program is uniquely complemented by the second Violin Concerto of Karol Szymanowski.
