Experience the devotion, physicality, and mystique of the famous "Hallel" passages from the Old Testament unfold through magnificent choral music – from the Renaissance's sensual sound world to the 20th century's intense tonal language. The evening's main work is the French composer Daniel-Lesur's large choral work, "Le cantique des cantiques," while the Renaissance masters Palestrina and Orlando di Lasso create music with clarity and balance, where the voices intertwine and flow in a near-ethereal hymn. With Vagn Holmboe's "Liber Canticorum," we are transported to a Nordic, concentrated expression, where both words and sounds have a special significance, while Louis Andriessen's "Un beau baiser" gives the familiar verses a modern, vibrant presence. The evening promises a rich experience of timeless depictions of love, vulnerability, and transcendence – where the DR Vocal Ensemble and esteemed conductor Marcus Creed allow centuries of music to reflect humanity's longing to be seen, heard, and loved.
