New Year's Gala 2026

Welcome to the DR Symphony Orchestra's traditional New Year's Gala! This year's soloists are two rising young singers, making their debut at the DR Concert Hall: soprano Sofie Lund, recipient of the Aalborg Opera Prize 2026 and "Performer of the Year" at the Copenhagen Opera Festival in 2024, and dramatic soprano Laura Helene Hansen, known from, among others, the DR documentary "The Next Diva." Highlights of the concert include the hit aria "Habanera" from Bizet's Carmen, Gounod's lively "Jewel Song," and operatic gems such as "Je veux vivre" and the beautiful duet "Barcarolle" from Offenbach's Hoffmann's Tales, which also features the iconic "Can Can" music from Galop Infernal. Of course, you can also look forward to a wealth of classic New Year's tunes, beloved in concert halls around the world. As tradition dictates, the foyer will be filled with champagne, canapés, and a festive New Year's atmosphere, and in the festively decorated Concert Hall, the orchestra will perform the most beautiful French musical temptations you could wish for on the last days of the year. We look forward to seeing you at the New Year's Gala at the DR Concert Hall!
