Strauss’s Alpine Symphony

Experience the sights and sounds of an all-day Alpine hike in Richard Strauss’s vivid tone poem, featuring waterfalls, pastures, a massive thunderstorm, and an unforgettable view from the summit. Music Director Franz Welser-Möst conducts this symphonic favorite alongside Bernd Richard Deutsch’s mesmerizing Intensity — written specifically for The Cleveland Orchestra — and Julius Eastman’s Second Symphony, an elegy for a broken relationship.
