About
Between his now-legendary, unplanned Carnegie Hall orchestral debut in 2022 (“miraculous,” per The New York Times), to spectacular recent recitals that included a “daring tour de force” (Bachtrack) performance of Ravel’s complete solo piano works, Seong-Jin Cho has achieved Carnegie Hall icon status at breathtaking speed. In his anticipated return, Cho performs the last of Prokofiev’s mighty “war sonatas” and the solo-piano suite from Prokofiev’s fan favorite Romeo and Juliet. The program also features Mozart’s Fantasia in C Minor, K. 396, completed for solo piano; and Jörg Widmann’s Sonatina facile, a delightful homage to Mozart’s deceptively approachable sonata of the same nickname.
