About
Stimulate your imagination with vibrant symphonic sound! Karen Kamensek conducts the Calgary Phil in Maxwell Davies’ delightful depiction of a wild Orkney wedding celebration capped by bagpipes at dawn, as well as Richard Strauss’s grand tone poem about human striving — whose majestic opening sunrise famously echoed in 2001: A Space Odyssey. A new work by Errollyn Wallen, the UK’s current Master of the King’s Music, completes the program.
