Oper Leipzig
The Oper Leipzig is one of Germany's leading opera houses, with a history stretching back to 1693 — making it one of the oldest opera institutions in the German-speaking world. Its current building on the Augustusplatz, opened in 1960, seats 1,612. The house presents a wide repertoire of opera, ballet, and concert performances and is home to the renowned Gewandhaus Orchestra.
Gewandhaus Leipzig
The Gewandhaus zu Leipzig is one of Europe's oldest and most celebrated concert halls, home to the Gewandhausorchester since 1781. The current building, opened in 1981 on Augustusplatz, seats 1,900 in the Großer Saal and 498 in the Mendelssohn-Saal. The orchestra holds the record for the world's longest continuous institutional history.
