About
Saxophonist Yu-Shiang Wang will present French Repertoire II with pianist Fumie Ito, a distinguished Japanese pianist based in France. Together, they offer devoted to the rich and diverse tradition of French music for saxophone and piano. Building upon the success of French Repertoire I, presented in 2024 at the National Recital Hall in Taipei and the Weiwuying Recital Hall in Kaohsiung, this program continues an exploration of French musical heritage through works by composers from different periods and stylistic traditions. The concert features both solo and chamber repertoire, with Fumie Ito, former collaborative pianist of the Saxophone Department at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, bringing her extensive experience and refined artistry to the performance. From the jazz-influenced language of Jean-Charles Richard to the richly expressive post-Romantic writing of Alfred Desenclos, the program highlights the unique perspectives through which French composers have engaged with musical forms, styles, and cultural influences, revealing the remarkable breadth and vitality of the French saxophone repertoire.
