About
"A Journey through East and West" is a musical voyage across cultures. It begins on Taiwanese soil: Chin-Yow Lin's "The Golden Zengwen River" voices nostalgia for home through solo violin, while Shiao-Wen Chang's duo "Szenerie" reflects the illusory and the real in everyday scenes, like a monologue within oneself. The journey then crosses into twentieth-century Europe: Prokofiev's Sonata No. 2 sings bright and lyrical, Schnittke's "A Paganini" and "Fugue" reveal sharp virtuosity, and Szymanowski's "Mythes," drawn from Greek myth, shimmers with Impressionist color. Juo and Lin interweave East and West.
