About
The event lasts approximately 1 hour. In principle, it's quite straightforward: air must find its way through pipes of different sizes, and voilà: the organ sounds. However, to create musical masterpieces on an organ, a vast imaginative capacity is required, comparable to a master chef who combines a palette of exotic spices and ingredients into surprising, and sometimes unconventional, dishes. Similarly, organists can draw on an immense range of tonal colors to make the 4798 pipes sound in harmonious combination, inviting listeners on journeys of discovery into new sonic worlds. Who could be better suited to guide such a tour than Rudolf Lutz, the "universal musician" from St. Gallen and a grand seigneur of keyboard improvisation? In conversation with Michael Eidenbenz and Tobias Willi – and also responding to the audience's interests – he will unlock brilliant, lively, orchestral, wondrous, and unexpected sounds from the Tonhalle organ, and unleash his endless musical imagination. A unique, spontaneous musical experience with this magnificent instrument is guaranteed.
