About
The flute is often mistaken for a violin – almost everyone takes it for granted. The cello understands it perfectly, as it is often confused with the double bass. Why do we easily recognize the smallest and largest instruments in the string family, while we know so little about those in between? You will discover that the less well-known instruments are not necessarily less important or less beautiful. Get to know the flute and the cello – instruments with a unique sound and their own, unparalleled character. We invite you to the next season of the (Un)Musical Lectures – Orkiestropedia! This time, we will take a closer look at individual instrument families and musical sections. We will learn about their unique sounds, construction, history, and function in the orchestra and beyond. We will discover the differences between aerophones and chordophones, why the violin and double bass belong to the same family, and how musical instruments create a unique palette of colors and sounds together. This is a solid dose of knowledge, musical trivia, and inspiration – a true treat for all music lovers. The classes are aimed at elementary and secondary school students.
