About
Genova & Dimitrov: The moment you hear the first chords of the piano, you are captivated – this is what the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung wrote about the piano duo Genova & Dimitrov. The International Piano London magazine described their performance as exceptional. In turn, the American Record Guide described their latest trilogy, Claude Debussy • Complete Works for Piano Duo (OehmsClassics/Naxos), as captivating and included it on the list of best recordings according to critics (Critics' Choice Best Of). In late 1995, the artists caused a great sensation by winning four major international piano duo competitions in just two years: in Munich (ARD), Miami (Dranoff), Tokyo, and Caltanissette (Bellini). Since then, Genova & Dimitrov have been among the most respected piano duos in the world. Their recitals and performances with renowned orchestras and conductors on the world's most important stages are met with enthusiastic acclaim from both audiences and critics. The legendary pianist Vladimir Krajniew from the Hanover University of Music, where the artists completed their postgraduate studies (Artist Diploma), and later headed the piano duo class, was a long-time mentor to the duo. They regularly serve as judges in prestigious international competitions, conduct masterclasses around the world, and appear in numerous television and radio programs. Genova & Dimitrov can boast of an impressive discography – their 21 albums (released by OehmsClassics/Naxos, cpo, and Gega New) are constantly praised and awarded by international music media. In addition to many world premieres, their recordings of 11 piano duets with orchestra have also caused a sensation. The artists were honored with the Echo Klassik award and the French CHOC de Classica award, and they have also been repeatedly nominated for the Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik and the Opus Klassik award. The two-album Sergei Rachmaninoff • Complete Works for Piano Duo (cpo) was praised by the Italian magazine Musica, which described it as an explosion of musicality. Die Zeit called the Amy Beach • Complete Works for Piano Duo album revolutionary, and Die Welt am Sonntag was delighted by it, comparing it to a box of the finest chocolates. BBC Music Magazine concluded its enthusiastic review of this premiere recording by stating that it is an album that must be heard. The Fono Forum magazine honored the three-album Carl Reinecke • Complete Works for Two Pianos (cpo) with the prestigious "Artist of the Month" award, calling the duo Genova & Dimitrov an excellent ensemble at the peak of mastery.
