The Poetry and Music Salon was established in Bytom by Anna Dymna, who, while performing at the Silesian Opera in February 2006 (during a charity concert dedicated to the tragic events at the International Trade Fair in Katowice), saw the Adam Didur Concert Hall and proposed organizing regular poetry events for the residents of Bytom. The Bytom Salon is one of the branches of the Krakow Poetry Salon, which began operating in January 2002 at the J. Słowacki Theatre in Krakow. The Krakow Poetry Salon quickly became a popular and well-regarded event. Its success exceeded the organizers' wildest expectations. Salons have also been established in Gdańsk, Tczew, Tarnów, Częstochowa, Opole, Lublin, and Gliwice. At the Silesian Opera, poetry events have been held regularly since their inauguration on October 1, 2006, and continue to be very popular with our audience. Since September 2016, Ewa Leśniak has been the artistic director of the monthly events. She is an actress, film actress, and stage actress, and Vice-President of the Polish Artists' Association. She also collaborates with the Polish Theatre in Bielsko-Biała, the Sosnowiec Mining Theatre, the Mickiewicz Theatre in Łódź, and the Chorzów Entertainment Theatre. She has approximately one hundred theatrical roles and several film roles. She has been awarded three Golden Masks, the Silver Medal "Gloria Artis for Meritorious Contribution to Culture", the Silver and Gold Cross of Merit, and the Silver Badge "Meritorious for the Katowice Region". She is involved in educational and pedagogical activities related to preparing for entrance exams to acting schools and external examinations.
