About
"Classic Malopolska" is a project whose main goal is to go beyond the traditional cultural center and bring high-quality music to smaller towns. The concert series, featuring the most beautiful opera, operetta, and musical arias, has been bringing classical music to residents throughout the region for years. Events in the "Classic Malopolska" series help to combat cultural exclusion and break the stereotype that serious music is only for residents of large cities. The initiator, director, and active participant of this series is Dr. Stanisław Sorys, a professor at UPJPII – a scientist, singer (tenor), and former vice-marshal and vice-governor of the Malopolska region. Concerts will be held, among other places, at the Mościce Art Center in Tarnów, the Krzysztof Penderecki European Music Center in Lusławice, and cultural centers in Gorlice, Limanowa, Miechów, and Chrzanów. The performances will feature outstanding soloists from Polish and international opera stages, including Iwona Socha, Ewa Menaszek, Tomasz Kuk, Jacek Ozimkowski, and Adam Sobierajski. The audience will also hear the performances of the Krakow Philharmonic Orchestra and the Krakow Opera Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Piotr Sułkowski and Maestro Mieczysław Smyda.
