About
The Taipei Youth Wind Orchestra, commonly known as "青管," was founded in 1979 and is one of the earliest wind orchestras established in Taiwan. All its members are graduates of music programs, with over 40 individuals holding bachelor's and master's degrees in music from domestic and international institutions, as well as performance diplomas. Many are also members of professional orchestras such as the National Symphony Orchestra and the Taipei City Symphony Orchestra, or teach at university music departments and music talent programs at various levels of primary and secondary schools. Their high level of skill is considered the best in the country. In 1997, they were selected by the Council for Cultural Construction of the Executive Yuan as "Outstanding Musicians."
