About
The performance featured a variety of dance styles, with the interplay of piano, strings, and woodwinds creating a captivating blend of romantic, folk, and neo-classical rhythms. The 19th-century Russian pianist and composer, Shteyn, used waltzes as the core of this piece, reflecting the salon aesthetic he cultivated during his time in Vienna. Mátyás, on the other hand, skillfully integrated the clear and lyrical oboe into the string and piano sections, adding a touch of the characteristic rhythms of Moravian folk music. The piece is vibrant and lively, and its unique arrangement is unparalleled in chamber music. Finally, at the age of 42, Dvořák composed this trio.
