Guest Performance: Turku Philharmonic Orchestra

It’s always a special occasion when Finland’s oldest orchestra comes to the capital. That’s certainly the mood today, as Kevin John Edusei conducts four celebrations of musical storytelling at its funniest, its brightest and its most gloriously tuneful. Enjoy Strauss’s musical prankster, tall tales from Hungary, a sumptuous overture from a female contemporary of Mahler – and best of all, Sibelius Competition finalist Minami Yoshida, with Bruch’s sparkling postcard from Scotland.
