Charla virtual

In celebration of the 90th anniversary of the UNAM Philharmonic Orchestra (OFUNAM), the General Directorate of Music is preparing the publication of "OFUNAM 90 Years," a book that recovers part of the history of one of Mexico's most representative artistic ensembles. In this virtual presentation, musicologist Montserrat Pérez-Lima and historian José Octavio Sosa, the project coordinators, will present the lines that underpin the publication. The discussion will cover the founding and institutional transformation of the orchestra over nine decades, its relationship with the Nezahualcóyotl Hall and other university spaces, as well as the various ways in which the ensemble's memory has been preserved and built. The conversation will also address the directors, soloists, and collaborators associated with OFUNAM, whose testimonies offer a human perspective on the orchestra's history. More than a chronology, this presentation proposes different approaches to nine decades of university musical activity.
