About
This concert offers a journey through more than two centuries of music. It begins with "Icarus" by composer Lera Auerbach, a 2006 work that takes its inspiration from the myth of the young Greek boy, son of the master craftsman Dédalo, who created the Labyrinth. Next, the Concert for Oboe in D Major by Carl Maria von Weber, composed in 1811 at the request of oboist Georg Friedrich Brandt, is presented. This work will be performed by Franco-Chilean oboist Guilhaume Santana. The second part of the concert features Beethoven's Symphony No. 3, "Heroic," completed around 1804. The work was initially dedicated to Napoleon Bonaparte, a dedication that the composer withdrew after Napoleon's proclamation as emperor. This performance features guest conductor Katharina Wincor.
