Melancholia

''The most gripping opera in a long time'' wrote Expressen about the world premiere on the Opera's stage in 2023. Follow the musical apocalypse of Justine's depression, the approaching planet, and Anne Sofie von Otter as the sylvan mother. Composer Mikael Karlsson and librettist Royce Vavrek are an operaduo who have taken the art form into a new era. With a contemporary sound world and texts that cut straight through the music, they literally offer the opera audience a punch in the chest.
