About
On Sunday, November 8th, the "Winter Concerts with the Detmold Music Academy" will begin at 3:00 PM in the church in Bergkirchen. The three students, Jihee Hyun (Oboe), Boyoung Kim (Flute), and Jiyeon Lee (Piano), will present the results of their previous joint artistic work. Works for flute, oboe, and piano are rarely found in chamber music literature. This is why the Ventus Trio from the Detmold Music Academy has made it their mission to discover and make these special compositions accessible to the public. Their program combines well-known works with rarely performed compositions, taking the audience on a musical journey from the Baroque period to the late Romantic era. In this process, the flute, oboe, and piano play in constantly new combinations, engaging in a stimulating dialogue. The program begins with the duets for flute and oboe, No. 1 in E minor by Wilhelm Friedemann Bach, the oldest son of Johann Sebastian Bach. These works are characterized by contrapuntal sophistication and virtuosic elegance, clearly demonstrating the musical influence of the famous father. Johann Joachim Quantz, another important composer of the 18th century, is also featured on the program, whose life intersected with that of Johann Sebastian Bach at the Prussian court of Frederick the Great in Potsdam. This equally skilled flutist and oboist created his c-minor trio, which vividly showcases the tonal possibilities of both instruments. The program is also complemented by Franz Joseph Haydn's sonata Hob. XVI:28 in E major, which Jiyeon Lee performs as a solo work. Finally, the second half of the concert will feature two rarely heard works for the trio ensemble: the c-minor trio op. 74 by Karl Eduard Goepfart, a student of Liszt, as well as the virtuoso Fantaisie Concertante op. 36 by the French composer Jules Demersseman. Tickets for €10/€15/€20 can be ordered at [email protected] or purchased at the box office from 2:00 PM.
