About
Its purpose is to promote relaxation for both body and mind, to improve health, and to appeal to a broad audience with its cheerful and uplifting nature. A particularly successful proponent of this genre is the "Bad Salzuflen Orchestra." The founder and director of the Bad Salzuflen State Orchestra is György Kovacs, who was born in Hungary and studied clarinet, earning his diploma at the Franz Liszt Music Academy in Budapest. The daily concert music is performed by a group of up to seven musicians, in the mornings and afternoons, except on Mondays. In the winter months, the orchestra performs with a smaller ensemble. The concert performances feature a mix of pieces, such as operettas and overtures in the first half, and musical and popular melodies, swing, Dixieland, and more in the second half. Special concerts often focus on specific themes, such as a trip to Italy with music by Verdi and Rossini, or French composers like Bizet and Massenet. The most popular concerts are the Wednesday and Sunday afternoon concerts.
