About
Its purpose is to promote relaxation for both body and mind, to improve health, and to provide a cheerful and uplifting experience for a wide audience. A particularly successful proponent of this genre is the "Bad Salzuflen Orchestra." The founder and director of the Staatsbad Orchestra is György Kovacs, who was born in Hungary and studied clarinet, earning his diploma at the Franz Liszt Music Academy in Budapest. The daily music performances feature up to seven musicians, in the mornings and afternoons, except on Mondays. During the winter months, the orchestra performs with a smaller ensemble. The concert performances feature a mix of music, including operettas and overtures in the first half, and musical and popular melodies, swing, Dixieland, and more in the second half. Special concerts often focus on specific themes, such as a trip to Italy with music by Verdi and Rossini, or French composers like Bizet and Massenet. The most popular concerts are the Wednesday and Sunday afternoon performances.
