About
It is meant to promote relaxation of body and soul, enhance health, and has a more cheerful character, naturally appealing to a broad audience: spa music. A particularly successful advocate of this genre is the 'Bad Salzuflen Orchestra'. Founder and director of the State Spa Orchestra is the native Hungarian György Kovacs, who studied clarinet and obtained his diploma from the Franz Liszt Music Academy in Budapest. The daily spa music is performed by up to seven musicians in the mornings and afternoons, except on Mondays. In the winter months, the orchestra performs in a smaller ensemble. The spa concerts feature potpourris in the first half, such as operettas and overtures, and in the second half, musical and schlager melodies, swing, Dixieland, and more. Special concerts have specific themes, such as an Italian trip with music by Verdi and Rossini, or French composers like Bizet and Massenet. The most attended are the Wish Concerts on Wednesday and Sunday afternoons.
