About
Music is always in motion – in rhythm, in breath, in emotion. The program of the four horn players from our orchestra series spans a wonderful range: It begins with Baroque dance energy in George Friedrich Handel's famous suites. The works of Anton Bruckner and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart create a spiritual and calming atmosphere, while still being full of tension. Afterwards, we experience festive marching movements in powerful musical images by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Giuseppe Verdi, and Carl Maria von Weber – from ritualistic processions to magnificent parades. Eugène Bozza's colorful suite makes the original expressiveness of the horn audible, between hunting, singing, and dancing: The music breathes, calls, sings, and celebrates – a living portrait of the instrument between nature, tradition, and modern elegance. A jazzy swing by Lowell Shaw concludes the evening: The three "Fripperies" live from rhythmic energy, playful wit, and stylish lightness. A special highlight of this chamber concert is the piece "Rhapsodies" by Eduard Resatsch, which was created in 2025 and is also a member of the Bamberger Symphoniker: A contemporary work that makes movement as a free flow of thought perceptible and creates an immediate connection to the musical life of the city of Bamberg. The colors, lines, and moods change organically: A music that is constantly evolving and touches the listener in this way. The horn quartet shows movement in all its facets – powerfully, lyrically, collectively, and vividly.
