Utopia / Daniel Lozakovich / Teodor Currentzis

It is the greatest scandal in the history of music and one of the most important works of the modern era: Igor Stravinsky’s »The Rite of Spring«. In 1913, the Paris premiere caused a spectacular uproar, with the audience reacting furiously to the numerous dissonances and harsh rhythms. It is, therefore, the ideal piece for Teodor Currentzis, who is celebrated worldwide for his often radical yet always gripping interpretations. When he recorded »Sacre« a few years ago with his musicAeterna ensemble, he was showered with praise. Now he is bringing this »breathless tension« (Spiegel Online) to his second ensemble, the orchestra Utopia, and staging Stravinsky’s masterpiece in Hamburg.
