Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestra / Omer Meir Wellber

Opposites attract and come into direct dialogue here. In the third Blue Concert of the Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestra, baroque sound world and modern expressive power intertwine into a multifaceted whole: Giovanni Battista Pergolesi's »Stabat Mater« (1736) meets Alfred Schnittke's Violin Concerto (1985) – movement by movement interwoven. What initially appears as a pure contrast gains depth through listening. Pergolesi's music directs attention to human suffering and compassion: clear, striking, immediate. Schnittke's Violin Concerto combines delicate reflection with orchestral power, allowing the violin to appear as a voice between closeness and resistance. A sound dialogue of memories, emotions, and surprising turns.
