«I write hardly any letters anymore, but only music», confesses Hans Werner Henze, and Ruth Zechlin signs in nine tones. Between East Berlin and Montepulciano unfolds a dialogue between two composers of the 1926 generation: about love, honoraria, and the state of the world. One seeks her niche within it, the other seeks freedom. It is said: «One must not withdraw!»
