About
One of the greatest pianists of our time is coming to Denmark for the first time in 20 years – and will be performing for the first time in DR Concert Hall. Mitsuko Uchida will receive the Léonie Sonnings Music Prize in 2027, and this will give the Danish audience the opportunity to experience her exceptional piano playing, which has made her one of the biggest names in the world of classical music for more than four decades. Uchida has herself curated the program for the prize concert, which includes Haydn's Variations in F minor, Schönberg's Six Little Piano Pieces, Mozart's Rondo in A minor, and Schubert's Four Impromptus D 935. Four composers with Vienna as a common musical ground – the city where Uchida came as a 12-year-old, where she was educated and immersed in the musical tradition that has followed her throughout her entire artistic life. For the prize concert, Uchida will bring her own piano from Germany, which is particularly suitable for the evening's repertoire – and which has been used to record several of her award-winning albums over the years. The evening in the Concert Hall promises to be both intimate and festive: a recital full of the finest musical nuances – and also a unique prize concert, in which the Léonie Sonnings Music Prize 2027 will be presented on stage after the concert.
