Beethoven's Symphony No. 8 and Shostakovich' Cello Concerto No. 1

Truls Mørk performs Shostakovich's intensely beautiful Cello Concerto . Also featured are a little gem by Mahler and a cheerful symphony by Beethoven. Shostakovich, Beethoven and Mahler are known for their grand symphonies, but this programme shows how well their music lends itself to the subtlety of a chamber orchestra.
